Just 20 days after the early completion of the river diversion works for the Kemubu Hydropower Station (Phase II), more good news has come from hydropower construction in Kelantan, Malaysia. On February 1, the Phase II diversion works of the Serasa Hydropower Station were successfully completed ten days ahead of the original target date of February 10, marking another significant milestone for the project.
The core task of this work was to establish a temporary diversion system to safely channel water from the open diversion canal away from the Phase II foundation pit construction area, thereby creating favorable conditions for the main structural works. At present, the diversion system is operating steadily, and all inspection indicators meet the design requirements.
To ensure the smooth implementation of the diversion, the project team prioritized key supporting works centered on the diversion needs of the Stage I powerhouse foundation pit. Special construction plans and emergency response plans were prepared, and comprehensive safety monitoring and control were strengthened throughout the process. The early completion was attributed to advanced planning, efficient resource allocation, and the effective coordination among construction crews, equipment units, and monitoring teams, enabling seamless workflow integration.
Currently, the river diversion remains stable, the Stage I powerhouse foundation pit is about to be enclosed, and drainage facilities are being further improved. In the next phase, the project team will carry out earthwork excavation and slope support works for the foundation pit, enhance monitoring of diversion structures and cofferdams, and utilize the time gained to optimize material supply and construction organization, striving to enter the main concrete pouring stage as soon as possible. The safe and efficient early completion of this diversion work has laid a solid foundation for the full-scale construction of the Stage I powerhouse and the overall project schedule. The project team will continue to uphold a rigorous work approach, strengthen safety and progress management, and ensure the steady advancement of the project.
